Join us for a fun, beginner friendly workshop where you turn your favorite pet into a custom piece of textile art! If you have ever been curious about rug tufting, this is your chance to dive in. It might look intimidating at first, but rest assured, you will catch on quickly after a brief demonstration. Perfect for beginners, date nights, and pet lovers alike.
Event Details
• Date: Saturday, October 10th, 2026
• Time: 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM (Workshop lasts about 2 to 3 hours)
• Location: Petaluma Tufting Studio, 616 Petaluma Blvd N, Suite A, Petaluma, CA 94952
• Capacity: Limited to 10 spots only. Grab a friend and bring them along so you can both tuft your pets together!
• Frame Size: 14 by 14 inches
• Refreshments: Light snacks and drinks provided, though you are welcome to bring your own favorites.
What Is Included
• Custom Prepared Canvas: Dedicated frame pre sketched with your custom pet design ready to go.
• Studio Equipment: Full use of professional cut pile tufting guns, threading tools, and studio materials.
• Curated Yarn Palette: 4 to 5 yarn colors selected specifically to match and shade your pet.
• Live Instruction: Hands on coaching, safety walk through, and guided tufting tips throughout the session.
• Finishing Station: Studio backing application and carving clippers so you can shape and sculpt your piece.
How It Works
• Step 1: Reserve Your Seat. Complete checkout online to secure your frame.
• Step 2: Email Your Pet Photo. Immediately after registering, email a clear, close up, well lit face shot of your pet to Hello@petalumatuftingstudio.com. Clear front-facing portraits capture the best facial details. Please include your order number in the email subject line.
• Step 3: Design Approval. I will translate your photo into a stylized, tuft ready template using 4 to 5 colors for dimensional shading. I will email the mock up back to you for your approval prior to the event.
• Step 4: Arrive and Tuft. When you arrive at the studio, your design is already transferred onto your frame with your yarn palette prepped. We start with a quick 15 minute safety and technique demo, then you jump straight into tufting. Most people easily finish within the session. If you happen to need extra time, do not worry, we will arrange a convenient time for you to return and wrap it up.
• Step 5: Studio Backing and Hands On Carving. I will apply a durable backing to lock all your stitches in place, and then you will get to shave and carve the yarn pile yourself so your pet's features truly pop!
Pickup and Turnaround
• Turnaround Time: Completed pieces will be fully cured and ready for pickup within 1 to 2 weeks.
• Studio Notification: You will receive an email update as soon as your finished portrait is packaged and ready to collect.
Important Studio Policies
• Age Policy: Guests ages 16 and older may attend independently. Participants ages 12 to 15 must be accompanied by a participating adult.
• Attire: Comfortable, closed toe shoes are required. Tie back long hair and avoid loose clothing or dangling jewelry around tufting equipment.
• Cancellations: Because every canvas is custom designed and pre transferred ahead of time, registrations are non refundable within 7 days of the event. Rescheduling is subject to studio availability.
